Funke Oyewole

Advisor, Concessional Finance and Partnerships Department at the World Bank

A Nigerian national and lawyer by training, Funke is a member of the New York and Nigeria bar associations as well as the United States Court of International Trade. She practiced as an attorney in Washington DC for several years before joining the World Bank in 1997. She first served as the External Affairs Officer for the Bank’s work in Health and Education, developing strategies to raise awareness of the World Bank’s work in health and education. She also served as the Program Coordinator for the Commodity Risk Management group and team leader for Corporate Affairs at the Global Environment Facility (GEF)—where she managed the GEF’s country relations and led the country dialogue with GEF Member countries and external partners—and Special Assistant to the Vice President for Operations and Country Services (OPCS). In addition, she served as the Deputy Program Manager for the Climate Investment Fund Administrative Unit from 2011 to 2013. The Climate Investments Fund is a $7 billion fund which provides funding to developing countries to address climate change issues. She is currently an Advisor to the Vice President in the Concessional Finance and Public Partnerships Department of the World Bank where she advises on policy and strategy issues related to management of World Bank Trust Funds.
