William Portilla

William is responsible for reviewing and approving loans that require a global authority and works closely with teams of credit in each region. William works with the Regional Risk Managers to oversee the performance monitoring of clients and to contribute to ongoing policy development, as well as training of relevant credit. William comes to the position with six years of experience with Root Capital credit. Prior to Root Capital, William worked as an investment officer at Verde Ventures Fund, as a credit manager for several commercial banks, and as an environmental project officer at various international organizations. He holds a M.Sc. in agribusiness from Ohio State University and a B.A. in agricultural economics from the University of Costa Rica.
