Melanny Zúñiga Araya

Having grown up in a rural area of southern Costa Rica, the environment has always been important to me. After getting a degree in environmental engineering, I pursued a career in sustainable development, offering sustainability consulting services to government entities and private businesses and teaching environmental management courses at the Technological Institute of Costa Rica. At Root Capital, I coordinate grants across our global portfolio ensuring our donor’s impact priorities match up with the work being accomplished in rural communities. When I’m not at work, you can usually find me surrounded by nature or embarking on a new project, whether it’s learning to sew or making my own granola!
