Nathan (Nate) Hulley joined Root Capital in 2025 and serves as Chief Operations Officer, responsible for financial, legal, human resources and IT management, ensuring that Root Capital can maximize its impact through effective, efficient operations. Prior to joining Root Capital, Nate has spent his career supporting economic development through both the public sector with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and through senior leadership roles with development consulting organizations including Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI) and Adam Smith International (ASI). Through these various roles Nate has developed a passion for building effective teams while creating growth opportunities for small businesses and communities. Nate teaches courses in communication and cross-cultural management in the Democratic Republic of Congo for MBA students through the Frankfurt School of Management and Finance. He holds an MBA from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Richmond. He enjoys cycling, basketball, cooking and spending time with his family.
