Position Overview:

The IT Systems Administrator is a key member of the IT Operations team, providing technical support and training to Root Capital staff and consultants across our global offices. The administrator works to optimize and administer cloud-based systems including Google Apps, Box, Mimecast, and Microsoft Azure. This role plays a crucial role in system selection, administration, monitoring, and vendor/budget management, and is expected to make significant contributions to IT Operations policies, procedures, and strategy.

Responsibilities

IT Case System Management and Escalation Handling of IT Support - 25%

  • Provide daily IT support and training to global offices, primarily through the support case ticketing system
  • Monitor ticket trends and identify opportunities for system optimization, training, and user needs
  • Troubleshoot issues in a predominantly PC and cloud-based environment, with a focus on video conferencing support
  • Coordinate case resolution with the network of local liaisons and independent IT consultants throughout our global offices
  • Coordinate and assist with local office projects in context of the above requirement

Cloud Asset Management - 25%

  • Ensure industry best practices are followed around administration of cloud solutions such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and enterprise SAAS platforms
  • Proactively maintain application, server, and MDM instances
  • Develop, test, deploy, and monitor Intune/MDM policies to ensure the latest software and configuration updates are installed, malware is scanned for, drivers are updated, and ad-hoc troubleshooting is performed

 Security and Monitoring- 20%

  • Ensure adequate consideration is given to enterprise cyber security, monitoring, network/cloud infrastructure, and anomaly reporting
  • Recommend and implement best practices for data security, disaster recovery, and compliance oversight
  • Respond to, remediate, or escalate security events or concerns
  • Support system-related aspects of data governance needs across non-IT Ops systems, including integration, documentation, and scoping support

IT Asset Management - 15%

  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of hardware/software inventory compliant with NIST standards, predominantly through Salesforce and other control platforms
  • Support the procurement of IT assets globally alongside office liaisons and consultants.
  • Provide global asset support for all users, including new user creation, user management, asset management, networking/internet connectivity, and hardware distribution
  • Work with the Salesforce team to optimize IT Inventory and related objects for IT Operations use
  • Analyze existing systems and hardware models and make recommendations for remediation and future selection
  • Deprovision aged hardware and maintain a secure data policy for latent data

IT Policy and Documentation Contribution  - 15%

  • Maintain IT Operations policies and procedure manuals
  • Research existing systems/processes and prepare technical proposals, including comparison charts, for implementing new systems
  • Compare different recommendations and proposals for system modifications and replacements based on organizational feasibility, infrastructure, usability, and technical challenges

Education         

No specific degree required, emphasis on relevant certifications and experience

Previous Relevant Experience Required

  • 3-5 years of experience in IT support, IT systems administration and network administration
  • IT support / helpdesk experience, including user and account creation and management
  • Experience with cloud-based IT systems, such as Google, Box.com, OneLogin, Mimecast, and video conferencing systems (such as Zoom.). Prior experience training others on these systems is a plus
  • Data Security, Disaster Recovery, and Compliance oversight
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation
  • Quality Assurance (QA) testing of new software and features

  • This position will play a key role in system selection and vendor/budget management and will be expected to make material contributions to IT Operations policies, procedures and strategy
  • Makes recommendations for IT system and process improvement to IT Operations Manager

Physical Demands         

May be asked to lift computer and A/V equipment up to 50lbs

Work Coordination and Supervision      

  • This position will oversee day-to-day help desk support with a large degree of independence
  • This position will oversee day-to-day administration of IT systems such as Box, Mimecast, Bitdefender, OneLogin, etc., with a similar large degree of independence

Managerial Responsibilities      

Will provide oversight of independent IT contractors serving Root's offices across regions.
