The Counterparty Risk Manager works closely with the Global Risk Manager to develop and maintain Root Capital’s counterparty policy and related procedures. The Counterparty Risk Manager will be responsible for counterparty due diligence and counterparty portfolio reporting and monitoring. They are part of a team that has authority to review and approve counterparty requests across Root Capital’s global portfolio. The counterparty definition is mainly related to buyers that purchase products from Root Capital’s clients.

Proposal due diligence and approval (50%)

  • Perform buyer due diligence and prepare related credit memos.
  • Act as an approver, generally, for counterparty proposals across the global portfolio.
  • Manage external credit reporting process (COFACE & Experian).

Counterparty portfolio reporting and risk monitoring (25%)

  • Manage and maintain buyer accounts, including updates to the Sales Force system, intranet, counterparty risk team information, and any other related data.
  • Approve and maintain buyer statuses in the system.
  • Monitor and analyze counterparty global loan portfolio concentrations. Support the Global Risk Manager in analyzing portfolio concentration/composition and reporting to regional and global teams.
  • Develop and maintain regional/global counterparty portfolio reports.
  • Provide technical support to the lending team in reviewing purchase agreement eligibility.
  • Support the organization’s other departments by providing buyer-related information.
  • Monitor certain market situations and related reports.

Counterparty policy updates and related procedures (25%)

  • Support and work closely with the Global Risk Manager in developing and maintaining the Credit Policy’s Counterparty Due Diligence and Risk Management section and its related procedures.
  • Provide support in disseminating policies, procedures, and relevant information to regional staff, as well as in providing related training.
  • Work closely with the Global Risk Manager to improve and manage appropriate counterparty underwriting tools, including credit memo formats and other due diligence tools.
  • Support other general activities related to counterparty risk management.

Perform other relevant duties, as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business; formal credit training
  • Two to three years of direct credit experience at a lending institution or SME lending experience a plus
  • Strong credit and financial analysis skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent spreadsheet and database skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
